One stop shopping: DURAN Group extends product range with microscope slides and microscopy cover slips

Right on time for this year's Analytica, the DURAN Group is presenting its laboratory glassware product range which has been expanded to include microscope slides and covers slips. These are available for immediate use in pathology, histology, molecular biology or other scientific fields. With this addition, DURAN Group will henceforth offer the complete range of laboratory glassware products in a "one stop shop".

DURAN microscope slides are produced from high quality float glass (soda-lime glass) of hydrolytic class 3. All microscope slides are available in the internationally specified standard dimensions (26 x 76 x 1 mm) and fulfil the requirements of ISO 8037/1. Due to the very tight tolerances of the glass thickness (1.0 ± 0.05 mm), the microscope slides are perfect for microscopy. While thanks to uniform and crystal clear edges, the risk of breakage is minimal.

The microscope slides are available as the following variants:
• With cut edges
• With ground edges (45° and 90°)
• With and without a matt strip
• With white, blue and yellow label fields
• With adhesive coating

The use of coloured microscope slides means that different preparations can be identified not only by a label, but also quickly and reliably due to the colour. The colour printing of the label field is resistant against all common laboratory solvents.

Adhesive microscope slides are provided with a special adhesive to provide superior cell and tissue adhesion. Further advantages for the laboratory are the saving in time and money because complex and expensive adhesives and coating techniques are no longer required.

The cover slips are produced from borosilicate glass (D263) and are absorption-free within the visible spectrum. Thanks to the use of premium quality glass, they are highly transparent, colourless and nearly free from colour impurities. Moreover, the high optical homogeneity means the cover slips are practically free from surface defects, inclusions, streaks and bubbles or interfering stripes. The high optical homogeneity makes possible unbiased microscopy without any interfering effects.

Based on many years of experience in the manufacture of laboratory and special glasses, and its comprehensive quality system the DURAN Group can guaranteed its users a uniform high product quality and optimum safety.
