FORTADUR – FIBER–REINFORCED GLASS

Fortadur™, a material with tailor made properties that are not exactly typical of normally brittle glass, is manufactured by combining SiC fibres and glass power under high pressure and temperature.
Fortadur™ is normally used in hot handling processes. Here, the materials used must be robust, have good durability and leave no trace on the glass products. In this field, fibre-reinforced glass, from which grippers, sliders, racks and transport devices are made, is an excellent choice. Fortadur™ is not only used in glassworks, but also in processing companies in which the glass is processed into a particular shape.
The glass fibre matrix is also used in the aluminium industry. Fortadur™ is not wetted by metal and therefore offers a wide range of uses.
