Purity at any price
Highly advanced weighing units in the fully automated batch preparation section make it possible to weigh out the raw materials to the closest of tolerances.
The DURAN® batches, i.e. the mixture of raw materials from which the glass is manufactured, require very high temperatures to melt. For purity reasons no use is made quite deliberately of additives such as arsenic, tin or antimony which would assist melting and have a definitely positive effect on production costs, but which at the same time would put the required chemical properties at risk.
To avoid jeopardizing the specified benefits of the laboratory glass, the only addition to the batch is a quantity of pure DURAN® cullet which assists melting.
