DURAN® immersion filters are used for reverse filtration. When the purpose of suction filtration is to recover a fairly large quantity of clear filtrate and not the solid content, what is known as reverse filtration is used in many cases. The precipitate is allowed to settle and the liquid standing above it is drawn off through an immersion filter. As there is little tendency for filter cakes to form on the filter disk, high filtration speeds can be achieved and fairly large quantities processed.
