Various versions of DURAN® flasks with a ground socket are used for special tasks.
For distillation, fractionation and reaction, multi-neck flasks are used predominantly so that they can be combined with other attachments such as columns, thermometers, dropping funnels, boiling capillaries, etc. Single-neck round bottom flasks are used for simple distillation work and as receiver flasks, for freeze drying, in vacuum apparatus, etc.
For most uses, DURAN® flat bottom flasks are supplied with a single ground neck. They may be used only for applications where no pressure is involved.
